Ze DAO Experience

Odyssey DAO

Over the course of this week we were supposed to explore a bunch of DAOs to familiarize ourselves with how they function. To start off i visited Odyssey DAO's discord. Odyssey DAO is a DAO with an aim to onboard the first 1 million people to web3. They do this by creating web3 content to educate the masses inorder to drive adoption. They have a bunch of articles that they write on a weekly basis. One such article that i went through was "How to avoid getting rekt in Defi". This one was pretty insightful cause it did exactly what the title claimed. From understanding the yield source to understanding basic tokenomics.

After going through a few articles and joining their discord i figured out that they had just completed a live podcast about the "state of black in web3". Since they didn't have any other events scheduled for the week i couldn't join in on anything live. I'm sure things would be a lot more interesting interacting with the members live.

Bankless

I had joined Bankless's DAO a while back but revisited the community once again due to this task. The aim of this DAO is to get the world to move towards (like the name suggests), a bankless future. In the words of their discord bot:

Bankless is a movement for people seeking liberation from the tyranny of
the traditional financial system. Going Bankless means adopting decentralized, permissionless, and censorship-resistant technology.
Through these means, we aim to achieve financial self-sovereignty, security, and prosperity.

They do this via their website, articles and the daily podcast on Youtube and Spotify. This DAO is a lot more structured with it's on boarding and the way work is done in general.

Upon entering the discord their bot called Madhatter which goes through the core philosophy of Bankless and how people can contribute. The issue with entering and fully being a member is the need for people to hold a minimum of 35k BANK tokens, holy moly that's a lot of money. Aside from the paid membership of sorts, there's also a way to get a weekly membership by getting approval from a level 2 or higher member. I did this and attended a meet, I didn't have too much time to get involved in the DAOs weekly work but i do intend to get more involved, once i'm able to afford the entry fee.

Within the discord there are several channels which are called guilds, these guilds range from developer guilds, education guilds to PM guilds. These guilds are pretty active and i was really interested in getting involved with Bankless's developer guild.
